HPSC Civil Services Preliminary Exam Pattern
- The result of HCS Prelims will be based on marks obtained in General Studies paper only and CSAT paper will be of qualifying nature. Candidates have to secure 33% marks in CSAT paper.
- Negative Marking: 0.25 for each wrong answer
- Mode of Exam: Offline (Objective Multiple Choice Questions)

HPSC Civil Services Main Exam Pattern
- 12 times the number of vacancies will be called to appear in HPSC HCS Mains Exam. Candidates need to choose two optional subjects from the list of 23 optional subjects. HPSC Mains exam is a descriptive type exam consisting of five conventional essay type question papers.

HPSC HCS Interview: Candidates securing marks equal to or more than HCS cut off marks will be called for personality test at HPSC office premises. No candidate will be called for HCS interview unless the candidate secures 45% marks in aggregate of all main written question papers and 33% marks in Hindi and English question papers. The number of candidates called for HCS Personality Test will be three times the number of vacancies advertised
